How it occurs

Sometimes, rotator cuff tears may occur as a result of a single injury but in most cases they are an overuse injury. Rotator cuff injuries are reasonably common and increase with age. They are also more likely to occur with people who have jobs that require repeatedly performing overhead motions, like tradespeople.

Treatment

After any required surgery is carried out, we’ll aim to reduce any pain and swelling. Once the injury is stable enough we’ll then look to restore flexibility and strengthen the group of four muscles that stabilize the joint through a series of exercise programs.
