SERVICE AREAS
Walid “Wally” Jamil is an experienced Physiotherapist treating the hand and upper limb (wrist, elbow, shoulder) at Action Rehab Hand Therapy in Melbourne’s South-East.

Ahmed Walid Jamil, who prefers to go by Walid, is a physiotherapist with a Master of Physiotherapy from Swinburne University of Technology and a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from Federation University.

His experience includes working as a physiotherapist in residential aged care, along with musculoskeletal private practice experience. These settings have given him experience working with people with a wide range of abilities, functional needs and rehabilitation goals, and have helped shape his patient-centred approach to physiotherapy.

Walid has a particular interest in upper limb rehabilitation and is keen to continue developing his knowledge and skills in hand therapy. What draws him to this area is how important our hands and arms are to almost everything we do.

Whether it is working, playing sport, exercising, cooking or completing everyday tasks, an upper limb injury can have a significant impact on a person’s independence and quality of life. Helping people regain function and work towards returning to the activities that are important to them is something Walid finds particularly rewarding.

He has a strong interest in shoulder rehabilitation, including rotator cuff injuries, shoulder instability and dislocations, and sports-related shoulder injuries. Walid is also interested in post-surgical rehabilitation.

He enjoys understanding the anatomy and structures involved in surgery and then following the different stages of recovery, including what may be expected at each stage and how rehabilitation can be progressed appropriately over time.

With a strong interest in sport himself, Walid is particularly interested in helping people work towards returning to sport following an upper limb injury, while also recognising that each person’s goals may involve returning to work, hobbies or everyday activities. He is also keen to develop his practical skills in hand therapy, including splinting.

Walid’s approach to physiotherapy centres around taking the time to listen to each person and understand what they want to achieve from their rehabilitation. He values building rapport, setting meaningful functional goals and working collaboratively with patients throughout their recovery.

He also believes it is important for patients to understand their injury and rehabilitation and enjoys explaining the reasoning behind treatment and exercises rather than simply providing a program to follow.

Outside of physiotherapy, Walid is a passionate sports fan and a big Collingwood supporter. He also follows Real Madrid and enjoys spending time with family and friends, getting outdoors and enjoying nature, as well as firing up the BBQ.
