SERVICE AREAS

Miriam Alvero is an Allied Health Assistant at Action Rehab Hand Therapy Gippsland.

Miriam Alvero is a dedicated physiotherapist who obtained her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy degree from Velez College in Cebu City, Philippines. During her university studies, she developed a strong foundation in human anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology, which underpinned her understanding of human movement and rehabilitation.

She gained extensive clinical experience in the Philippines in a private tertiary hospital, across both inpatient and outpatient settings, community-based rehabilitation, and as an instructor teaching physiotherapy clinical subjects at Velez College. After relocating with her family to Christchurch, New Zealand, Miriam further expanded her experience in aged care and disability settings.

Miriam discovered her passion for hand therapy early in her career. Through working with a wide variety of upper limb conditions, she developed a deep appreciation for the complexity of upper limb anatomy and function. Her commitment to helping individuals with musculoskeletal, neurological, and functional impairments was strengthened by seeing the meaningful impact hand therapy can have on a person’s independence and overall quality of life.

She is dedicated to helping clients return to their pre-injury or pre-condition level of function—whether that involves work, daily activities, mobility, or participation in meaningful life roles. Miriam is particularly passionate about staying up to date with the latest research in hand therapy and applying evidence-based practice to create personalised programs tailored to individual’s goals.

Outside of work, Miriam enjoys spending time with her family, staying active, exploring the outdoors, and watching movies and documentaries.

Miriam is committed to supporting individuals in their recovery from upper limb injuries and making a positive impact on her clients’ lives.
