James graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelors of Physiotherapy (Honours). While at university, he explored various health-related disciplines, including human anatomy and joint biomechanics. He gained clinical experience in hospital environments, sports settings, and private practice. Having worked across four Epworth locations, James takes pride in positively influencing patients on their often challenging rehabilitation journeys.
During his clinical placement at Bendigo Health, James discovered a passion for hand therapy, where he encountered diverse hand and finger injuries. His enthusiasm for this field grew from his fascination with upper limb anatomy and witnessing the profound impact hand therapy can have on individuals’ lives. Additionally, James has personal experience as a patient, having broken his collarbone while playing football and dislocated fingers on the basketball court.
James is dedicated to helping patients return to their pre-injury activities, whether that’s work, sports, or other important aspects of their lives. He particularly enjoys staying informed about the latest hand therapy research and creating customized rehabilitation programs for his patients. For his final university project, he developed a website called “The Hand Hub,” which compiles information on 20 common hand and finger injuries aimed at educating fellow students about the upper limb. This resource also includes a diagnostic tool and splinting guides to help students and hand therapists provide optimal patient care.
Outside of his professional life, James enjoys outdoor activities, playing basketball, socializing with friends, and traveling around Australia. A devoted supporter of the Melbourne Demons in the AFL, he attends games whenever possible, even though it can be a painful experience. Fortunately for Action Rehab, James is now committed to helping individuals overcome upper limb injuries and maximizing their treatment outcomes.
