Emma Gilsenan first completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne majoring in Human Structure and Function, before moving to Sydney to complete the Doctor of Physiotherapy at Macquarie University.
Emma grew up with a love of basketball, where she represented Victoria at a National level in her junior years, and continued playing at a state level in her senior years. Having her fair share of injuries over time is what led her down the pathway of physiotherapy and wanting to help others get to where they need to be able to achieve their goals.
Emma has worked in a variety of settings prior to commencing with Action Rehab. These include private practice clinics, pilates studios, sporting teams (AFL & netball) and hospitals. Through these settings, Emma has seen and treated a diversity of upper/ lower limb and spinal musculoskeletal conditions. A passion for pilates started years ago as a client, which lead her to complete further training and study to become a clinical pilates instructor.
When she’s not at work, you’ll find Emma outside enjoying the sun, sea and sand. She likes to stay healthy and fit, lifting weights in the gym and going mountain bike riding. Emma also loves her veggie patch and her rescue greyhound Charlie.
With the use of manual therapy, exercise prescription, pilates and splinting, Emma has a desire for helping people return to their goals and live their best life. In particular, Emma has a keen interest for treating and managing all sorts of shoulder conditions, especially sports related injuries.
