Elena Hatzis

Elena Hatzis graduated from Monash University in 2023 with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (First-Class Honours). During her studies, she developed a strong foundation in human anatomy, rehabilitation, evidence-based practice, and clinical reasoning. Elena has gained diverse experience across paediatrics, community mental health, aged care, and most notably, hand therapy.

Elena discovered her passion for hand therapy during her final university placement at Maroondah Hospital. Her interest in the intricacies of upper limb anatomy, combined with seeing how therapy directly impacts function and independence, inspired her to pursue a career in this field.

Since graduating, Elena has been working in community aged care, supporting older adults to maintain independence, safety, and engagement in meaningful daily activities within their own homes. This role has strengthened her skills in person-centred care, problem-solving, building trusting therapeutic relationships, and highlighted the vital role upper limb function plays in maintaining independence and participating in meaningful daily activities.

Elena is passionate about helping people return to the meaningful activities that matter most to them, whether it’s work, sport, or everyday self-care. Elena enjoys staying up to date with the latest research in upper limb rehabilitation and takes pride in developing tailored, evidence-based therapy plans for each of her clients.

Outside of work, Elena loves spending time at the beach, going on long walks, catching up with friends and family over coffee, and barracking passionately for her beloved teams- Melbourne Victory in the A-League and her local soccer club, Malvern City. Luckily for Action Rehab, Elena now brings the same enthusiasm and team spirit to her role, where she is dedicated to helping clients overcome their upper limb injuries and get back to doing what they love.
